Scholarship fund

The Scholarship program assists graduating high school students of Jamaican heritage in metro Atlanta and in Jamaica with first-year college expenses. Since the inception of the program in 1995, more than 100 students have received awards.  This included 10 awards in 2020 and 19 awards in 2021, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and forced cancellation of the annual Independence Ball and Scholarship awards fundraisers. Eligibility requirements, deadlines, and application forms are posted on this website, sent to high schools, and promoted in the AJA newsletter, beginning in February.  Applications are rigorously reviewed by the Education Committee and finalists are determined.

Finalists must participate in a virtual interview, or in-person interview when feasible, by the established deadline, with Education Committee members.
